I just finished an outstanding book called "The 13th Valley" by John M. Del Vecchio. It's about life in an infantry platoon circa 1970 in Viet Nam. Check it out at Amazon.com. It really is a fascinating read. BTS should design a tactical level Viet Nam game. If they could recreate for us battle scenarios similar to those in this book we would all be in for another treat. If any of you were in the infantry in Viet Nam you may not want to read this one. Although this is a fictional account, the author was there on operations very similar to what he describes in the book. It seemed quite realistic to me. I really think it could be upsetting to someone who actually experienced the horrors the author depicts.
This book does for the Vietnam vet what Saving Private Ryan does for the WWII vet.
It makes us all realize how in debt we are to those who fought, suffered, and often died for our country. You can probably tell I was deeply moved by the book. On the lighter side, I sure do think it would make for a great tactical game idea. I don't think anyone has ever put out a Vietnam game have they? Mikeman out.
