Does battlefront have any plans to hold a competion in say like what they have for closecombat ie:cases ladder etc
I know the battles would take alittle while to play, but is it in your agenda to take that to task.

First, us U.S. guys whoop up on all you guys down under, then we decide the top of the ladder for ourselves...
And YES, this is purely in jest! I have no doubt that I'll be the one getting the whooping my fair share of the time. Probably more. http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/frown.gif

The Blitzkrieg Gaming Club may be an excellent place to have a CM Ladder and future Tourneys if Battlefront.com doesn't have the resources for such an undertaking.

We will most likely hold some sort of contest for sure. Probably after the game has been out for a while (i.e. we have had some time to rest!). We are also working on partnerships that will keep people such as Kiwis and Yanks battling at all hours of the day and night http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/wink.gif

Well, im certainly in for a challenge, and i certainly would like to teach HERR OBERST a thing or two.Without blowing my own trumpet i did manage to attain the rank of 8th in the world on cases ladder in cc2. the only thing that stopped me going higher was the fact that the blokes ahead of me werent to be seen when i was in game zone due to time differences, and another kiwi mate of mine got to 3rd,so we would be ready for anything the HERR OBERST and his mob come up with,
TAKE this in jest also oberst,a friendly challenge with abit of pre rhetoric at stake is always abit of fun.

Titan, I am sure he will take it in jest http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/smile.gif BTW, you should see the private emails between Fionn and Martin before and during their AAR game. Funny stuff http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/smile.gif Taunting in good humor is always a great part of gaming!

So true.
I have an old high school friend I catch up with every... decade or so. http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/smile.gif We played a game of the old AH "Blitzkreig" back in the 1970s, but we added Ministries of Propaganda - lots of "official" taunting/slander/lies, all written out. I think I still have the notes in a box somewhere.
Earlier this year we played the Talonsoft Operational Art of War "Blitzkreig adaptation byt PBEM. Once more with the taunting press releases & overblown official statements. Weird kind of deja vu experience.

"U.S. guys whoop up on all you guys down under"
Since CM is not R*S like CC (that T probably was pretty redundant anyway) transglobal pbem should be easy. In the spirit of beating up a fire which is dying down: vainglorious might be your national character but laconic is more ours so let actions speak louder...etc. If we really stick to national character there will be a bit of betting on the outcome.
Paraphrasing the words of an Aussie tank crew at Buna: After bailing out of their tank they ran back and crouched in cover with a few infantry under heavy small arms fire. As they were about to head off to the rear across an open area of kunai swept by a Jap machine gun one of the infantry declared: "Bet you two bob you don't make it" http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/smile.gif

Taunting is one of the great thing about playing with another human. http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/smile.gif
My friend and I would play Axis & Allies and make up outrageous newspaper headlines everytime we attacked a province. Winning the game was secondary because we were laughing so hard at our silly headlines.
Or when my friends and I get together to play D&D and we would degenerate into really awful pun contests.
I think a tournament would be great fun. It looks like we have a good range of skills and players and every person I've read a post from seems like a good opponent.

Titan, I believe the appropriate term is "rag-tag mob"...
As for your other comments, I can think of but one thing to say:
"Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!"
Please say these with a silly French accent, while doing your best to imitate those most excellent actors in Monty Python's Holy Grail.
If you've never seen the movie, let me know and I will mail you a copy.

As mentioned in my earlier post in this thread, I am quite sure I will be on the receiving end of the whoopings. But as they say, you don't get better playing people you can already beat. Initially, I just hope to survive more than the first encounter.
*bows to Titan*
So until the actual game comes out, the verbal jousting must suffice!

" You couldn't start a war without taunting "
hehehe, that reminds me of a story;
Once I was playing SSIs' 'Fantasy General' It was a turn by turn fantasy WG (Ok not WWII)kind of like a risk (Multiple amrmies on a big map of the world)
The coolest thing I found about this game was that you could deliver a message to the other player. When the other player started his turn there would be a flashing scroll on the top of his screen showning that the other player had dropped him a line!
I was losing pretty bad in the game,(Don't get any ideas http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/wink.gif ) But, I noticed that I could probably swing my guys onto a few unoccupied pieces of land and get very close to the other players capital; although he had tougher units, all within distance of it.
I preceeded to type out the following message to my adversary;
To the Red General:
If you have noticed my forces have advanced to the Northern corner of the map. These are a peace keeping force on a peace keeping mission they are tending to wounded and refugees in this area, do not fire and they will uphold a cease fire agreement until all the refugees and wounded have been avacuated!
Of course this was all BS, I was really taking a last stab at trying to nail his stockpile in his capital! He knew this but writes me back...
To The Blue General:
Proceed with your peace keeping mission but you must stay one state length away from the Red Capital.
Of course I was over joyed at this and decided to take on another one of his weaker forces with my 'So Called' Peace keepers.
The next letter I wrote was:
To The Red General:
Peace keeping mission was a success however we have had to change direction and move further north to allow more refugees safe passage out! We are sorry to inform you that in the process a battalian of your men were caught in crossfire and sustained casualties.
He moved his capital after this and then wrote me this letter sealing my fate...
To The Blue General:
Your peace keepers seem to need help removing the refugees, in this case the the Red Army will oblige.
needless to say that was the end of my 'peace keepers.'
We have both laughed about this subtle taunting for years.
hope y'all got a kick out of the story.

Titan, I wasn't referring to you but rather someone else's username "islander"
As for your ability we played CC2 once way back when. Cant remember if we were playing a camp or a single scenario but I do remember it was the cauldron map, as Germans I forced to set up left of the train tracks. I guess the reason it sticks in my mind was your use of intantry was outstanding, I recall these small quick ambushes, 3 squads charge the building my recon entered, mopped my unit up and then poof, I'd just get a last glimpse as they ran deeper into the maze.
I cant remeber who won that game, but always looked on you as a worthy adversary after that http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/smile.gif

Steve, thanks for mentioning Kiwis playing yanks all hours of the day and night. It reminds me of one of the great benefits of PBEM -- time shifting. There are a few players on the CWG2 WON site that I would love to play but they (one in particular who is in NZ) are in radically different time zones. This makes Internet play almost impossible as we are virtually 180 degrees out of phase. And since the PBEM is disfunctional as well, I never get to play him.

The enchanter may confuse the outcome, but the effort remains sublime.
