Yup, He's old, he's mean and chances are he is probably sorta grizzled but I love the old coot and I got Mr. Wild Bill himself immortalized in today's POTD!!!!

Los also offers up another military minded article focusing on the Principals of War. Check it out and see what the true military minds say about warfare and proper planning!

also, I haven't seen the blue green unit select square. Is this also a change in the newer version (maybe blue green for winter, yellow for summer and red for night...)

And while we're over-analyzing this thing: for ammo it sez "46h 17a 7t". Now, I've learned that the first number represents HE, the second represents AP, but in the demo I'm used to seeing the 3rd number represent smoke, indicated by the letter s.

So, did the letter change, or is "t" indicative of some other kind of shell?

My first guess was "tomahawks". http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/biggrin.gif
"Torpedoes" woulda been my second guess. http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/biggrin.gif

(Hey, maybe that'll inspire Max Molinaro....)

By the way, please keep these articles coming. Those of us who always wanted to wargame but just couldn't get into it until CM have some catching up to do. And what better way to endure the waiting....

"t" = tungsten AP. Search on "Tungsten".

t is for tungsten, which was used to form the premier AT ammunition of the period. The metal is much denser than steel, and when combined with the very new trick of using a discarding sabot, tungsten-alloy ammunition gave a significant improvement in armor piercing power. I think even the lowly US 76mm could cut through 115mm at 500 meters. King Tigers could cut through absurdly thick armor--210mm at 500m or something like that.

Thanks -- I was familiar with this round, but my brain was so preoccupied with the idea of a Pershing sportin' 7 tomahawks that it didn't associate "t" with tungsten....

For anyone else who missed it, below is a quote from Fionn that summarizes this:

quote:
Yes, HVDS, HVAP, PzGr40 and all those other "special AP" rounds will be modelled.

They are modelled using the T type of ammo but all are individually and separately modelled
per gun.

Now that I've mentioned "t is for tungsten," I'm singing that awesome Cookie Monster song, "C is for cookie!"

teut, that's NOTHING. When I was little, I used to get REALLY freaked out with the way nobody could see the Snuffalufagus (he was related, IIRC, to the Nahverwhappersmacker)

I would sit there yelling "he's RIGHT THERE! You almost walked into him! What is WRONG with you people?!"

How does the crew decide when/if to use the
Tungsten rounds instead of regular AP?

Will they waste them on half tracks even if if they have AP?

WHAT???!!!! WB Wilder & crew are portrayed as "regulars"? Not rip-snort, fire-in-the-belly elites? http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/eek.gif

Oh, that's mean, Madmatt. REAL mean. http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/wink.gif

Please tell me your going to make a POTD archive so I can catch days that I missed... I haven't been able to find one.

thanks http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/smile.gif

Yes an archive will be going up soon (Maybe tonight) BUT there is a workaround in place already. The Direct Links (the little graphics that sorta look like a chain but also kinda look like a tiny panzerfaust) still point to the old pictures and do not change! Look for any entry in the Recent Headline table that mentions POTD's and click on the little link graphic. That will bring up a full screen version of the picture from that day! See? We gotcha covered! http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/biggrin.gif

Of course, you noticed that there is a Pershing in front of me. I'm standing in the turret yelling, "Forward Men! Forward!" the ideal position for the commander, "I got your back!"

Nice job, Madmatt. I am honored!

Hmm, I could have sworn when I played that scenario that it wasn't "Forward Forward!" I heard but something more along the lines of:

"Damnit! Faster men! My Viagra perscription is waiting!" http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/biggrin.gif

Love ya Bill! http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/wink.gif
