I had the same trouble with other games. The cure is to zip the files before sending them.

they show up in the message when i open it.But the only thing i have to click on is the hotmail hyperlink by the description. and all that gives you is a .htm file

Oops. Misread your problem. I thought your files weren't arriving or going out intact. Been ages since I used it, so I don't remember about saving attachments, sorry.

Have you tried cutting and pasting from where you see the guide lines and naming the resulting file pbem_file.txt?

nope compassion, i'll try that until i can find out whats wrong with it. I sent hotmail an e-mail...... but unlike BTS it will most likely be ages before i hear back.

You could ask your opponent to zip the file before he sends it. I ahve used mailers beforethat ignore MIME formating and just dispay if the attachment is "just" text.

Or maybe ask your opponent to clip the .txt extension so that the mailer doesn't know that its just text and keeps it intact as a file. Then when you get it you can rename and Bob's your auntie!
