View Full Version : Effect of editting in PANIC

If you edit a unit to "PANICKED", the owner will not be able to do a thing with it during set up. If you hit the space bar to call up its orders options, nothing happens other than a CM error warning "beep". So, you can't even:
- dig in/out
- relocate
- rotate
- un/hide
- set an arc

Also, as I've mentioned elsewhere, this will prevent an artillery observer from plotting a pre-planned barrage.

[This is not mentioned on p. 170 (CMBB) nor p.152 (CMAK) of the manuals, nor did a previous mention of it come up with a forum search.]

Good information.

I use panick for making troops surprised. Works well since you don't know how long they will be panicked. It won't be for long though and they come back in stages normally.

Yes panic is a good substitute for surprize. Occasionally I've used such troops (conscripts)with no ammo to simulate civilians. Yeah they do have some defensive fire...

I found out about exactly what you said in one of the scenarios that came w/original CMAK where there is a night attack by the British in El Alamein battle - my German 150mm IG was panicked and couldn't be moved from the original setup...
