Hi chaps and chappesses,
Please can anyone out there provide a list of CM abbreviations?

I am relatively new to this game but am extremely keen to learn the numerous strategies and tactics so kindly provided by a multitude of gamers. Most of which I have managed to gain some grasp of with my little pea-brain!

However I do sometimes get flummoxed in mid stream when given an abbreviation for something and I dont know what the abbreviation stands for, so it kinda leaves me a bit confused.....(or maybe everyone else knows what they stand for and I am just being a bit thick!!)

eg: IIRC, MLR, AAR, HT, etc etc ad infinitum....

It would help sprogs like me to have a list of abbreviations.....Pretty please

Many thanks in anticipation

Mikul

ps: If this has already been done and I just havent spotted it.....apple ogies to all and sundry

Most common (and not-so-common) internet acronyms can be found here (http://www.gaarde.org/acronyms/).

Hi all...

I'm new and was having some problems with some of the acronyms. I figured someone asked in the past so I figured I'd dig through, find it, and give it a bump so other newbies can see it.

Also if anyone can add anything CM related it'd be appreciated.

I have a table of abbreviations I have been collecting off the forum since I have been reading it. It is in a MS Word 97 table. So far it has about 150 definitions. I have consolidated all the extras from this thread as well.

Does anyone know how to publish such a list and keep the formatting?

I have sent it to a few people who responded to this thread. If anyone one knows how to convert and publish the list on the forum so it is readable please let me know.

Cheers MarkL

Sounds interesting can you send it to me. There's just a whole lot and some I can figure out and some are just way out there. I'm not totally unfamiliar with a lot of the abbreviations as I am in the military but some just seem to come from the game and those are the ones I am not figuring out.

It should help when my game finally arrives in the mail. Hopefully it can get to Germany in a hurry.

I hope the formatting holds so this is readable. The abbreviation is above the definition. Once the sequence is found hopefully it will be of some use. I will not vouch for these but all are from this forum including this thread.

One on the list I have forgotten the definition for is MGMC's, I do not remember where I saw it.

If anyone spots a wrong definition please post it.
Hope this is not too long.

NB: Tankodesantniki, literally means tank mobiletroops. Desant, in Russian, refers to any troops that are dropped off by quick mobile transport. The original desantniki were marines - dropped off by ships. Vozdushnodesnatniki means paratroopers (literally air troops)

[Snips]Hunnicutt gives it as "Multiple Gun Motor Carriage" in his "Half-Track" (2001, Presidio, Novato CA).

I can see no discernible pattern to the assignment of the designations "Multiple GMC" (M13, M14, M15, M16, M16A1, M17), "Combination GMC" (M15A1) and "Twin GMC" (T10E1).

All the best,

John.

What part didn't you get?
