Why are multiplayer wargames with more than 2 people such an impossibility? My fellow rapidly aging grognards and I have been waiting for a 4 player WW2 game since our Squad Leader days. When Close Combat came out I figured it was just around the corner. I grossly miscalculated. Will this ever be a reality in my lifetime?

It depends on how long you live.
Earlier comments have not ruled it out for the next CM engine, and some interpritations of those comments seem to indicate that it is planned.
Only time will tell.

Oh, and while I'm at it. Multiplayer strictly equals 2. I'm pretty sure that 1 player is single player and that there is no provision for fractional players in the current engine.

With the help of wiskey, I can be less than one player.

Check out TacOps on this very site.
Multiplayer per team, up to 8 teams (colors) and optional fog of war between team members.

Well maybe so, but I just posted a scenario at The Proving Grounds, that will allow for three players. It's called HSG A Polish Final.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I've played CMBB games (and am about to play one now) of 6 players (3 on each side). Check out the site (CM OKH) in my sig for more info and check Agcent's Multiplayer Rules
