View Full Version : CMAK Sneak Peek

rune
09-24-2003, 12:39 PM
Have been doing this since CMBO, now will continue the tradition. A sneak peek at CMAK for those in the Chicago area. Others may be having one in your area, up to them if they want to.

So, if you are in my area, which is Chicago, and would like a sneak peek on what has been eating all my time for quite a while, I ask you to post here.

Details, do you prefer Friday evening, the 10th of Oct, or Saturday late afternoon, early evening on the 11th?

Depending on how many are interested, we can have it at my house, with four PCs running it, or I can bring a laptop to a bar. We can always have it at the Grizzleys in Chicago again.

Again, I ask not to give away too many surprises, and none about the scenarios. [Most people don't like spoilers, and want to play the scenarios for themselves] If you have the urge to bitch that I am having it in Chicago, get over it, it is where I live. Not going to go through the whining like the CMBB preview. I won't commit any of the other beta testers, as they know their scedhules.

And thinking about it, is the husband/wife team that did the CMBB preview for CNN still around? You are also most welcome to attend.

I am going to do one on a weekend late in October (18th or 25th). No renditions of the Canadian anthem permitted. Americans only allowed in if they have two heads.

No joking either, I am German.

I will serve the English national dish Haggis, and the English national drink Carlsberg. Well, if you are lucky I can find some stale crisps under the sofa.

If you want to attend, email me. First come first served. If demand is sufficient, I have another one a week or so later. Would be good if someone could bring an extra Computer (so no PC, Apple only).

Rune God no, had a spectator call out at an Ajax junior game last night that I look as if "You belong in an escort agency. You're just too good looking ref!"

I tell you, that got to me more than any other swear word that night. Pretty boy and all... Rune, you know me and snow, we don't melt together.

WOO-HOO!!! I may have to cut my Saturday morning Systems Analysis class, but I think traditions should be an important consideration in one's education, so I am going to make every effort possible to attend!

I guess Saturday afternoon would be OK and either location is fine with me.

As my wife will be at a conference in Ann Arbor that weekend with the good car, I will be forced to drive the StinkMobile to the big city. Alas this is the price I pay to be a full-time student these days so I can't complain.

Ahhh. . . so close and yet so far. I live nowhere near Chicago, but will be in the area for about two weeks on business in late Oct/early Nov.

If for some reason you decide delay the sneak peak until early Nov, or hold a second session for those that could not make the first one, Rune, please let me know as I would love to attend.

Otherwise, I guess I'll have to wait with the rest of the masses. . .

Cheers,

YD

I will serve the English national dish HaggisLOL I hope there aren't any scots on this board or you're in for a very rough ride Andreas. Haggis is about as English as a kilt and sporran :D

I would also prefer a Saturday, getting out of work early enough to see it on a Friday would be hard. As I am @3 hours from Chitown along with barrold713. (Grand Rapids MI)

How far are you from IKEA?

Karl, I don't have any other interfering plans for that day and if you wanted to hitch a ride I suppose that would be OK.

I have to take the wife-damaged Camry instead of the Saab so the transportation won't be luxurious. :D

Rune's lair is closer to Skokie than Schaumberg, but once you're in the area, it's a lot closer than here. How's that for Yogi Berra logic?

Send me an email and we'll see if compatible plans can be set.

Then Saturday late afternoon it is. Since the turnoput isn't that huge, at my house. Toss me an email if you need my address. Let's say 3:30 PM on 10/11, since I am refereeing earlier that day.

Wadepm, If you want to venture up alone on Friday, would be willing to let ya in. Let me know.

Confirming, 10/11/03 scheduled for 3:30 PM, but be warned I may back up the time as soon as I know the playoff schedule for Soccer, I may be refereeing a few games, so may need a little time.

Again, if you need my address, just toss an email.

Looks like a small turnout, so everyone may have their own computer.

Hi everyone, this is Rebecca-Barry's wife. He was supposed to go to the sneak peak in Chicago today but could not attend because he is in the hospital :( . He was diagnosed with acute appendicitis Thursday afternoon and in surgery Thursday night...the appendix was about 1-2 hours away from rupturing and he is still one sick dude...had to have a nasogastric tube today because he is not progressing well and he is still in a lot of pain. He wants everyone to know he is very unhappy...especially about the fact that it happened this weekend  . The good news is I am a nurse and I am staying with him day and night at the hospital-he essentially has his own private duty nurse smile.gif . He will probably be in the hospital until Mon or Tues if he progresses better from today on out. Hope everyone is having a good time and Barry will post again as soon as he is home.
