I am not sure if this has been done en masse before, so here goes.

I now have some time this summer and am thinking about creating a series of SL scenarios, using the original AH maps and setups.

Has this been done before? I was not able to find a comprehensive set of these scenarios anywhere. I did find a few scenarios that were named after the AH scenarios (i.e., Bucholtz Station; Bitche Salient), but the maps and unit compositions were different.

Finally, is there any interest or will I be doing this just for myself?

I never do this, but here goes....

DO A SEARCH.

This is a big can of worms. Search for ASL and you will find all kinds of stuff on this BBS. I myself am responsible for many ASL translations.

If the search does not answer your questions, get back to me, and I will help further.

I did a search - everything came back with ASL.

I am not interested in ASL. I found it to be overly burdensome and a waste of money (please - no flames - this is just my opinion and I am neither trying to insult anyone nor interested in hearing how wrong I am).

I am interested in converting original SL/COI/COD/GI:AoV scenarios.

I am searching for a repository of sl/asl scenarios. Mr. Speaker and I had a quick e-mail discussion about this, to little end. I also preferred SL etc. to ASL, although I prefer Combat Mission over any of the others.
I would appreciate any direction to places where I could find scenarios.

Ok.

To my knowledge, very few of the SL scenarios have even been attempted, so maybe you can be the first.

Let us know when you get a few done.

Actually wasnt "bucholtz Station" and SL 12 which I can remember right now were done but are kind of on the bootleg list... enough said. I for one am looking forward to CM2. Ohh those wonderful COI scenarios! I remember this one with the Rumanians and Germans attacking near a coastal city near the border. enough said!

I have done some of the GI Anvil of Victory ones - two of them are on my site. The Medal of Honor one is quite fun to play - a real challenge as the Germans. I think my version of Road to Wiltz is there as well.

Hitdorf on the Rhine was done using the exact maps, etc.

Bucholtz Station and The Road to Wiltz were adapted, but used different maps and units. I want to transfer the SL scenarios as exactly as possible (some distortion is inevitable given that this is a square map and SL used a hexagonal).

The Romanian-German scenario you are thinking of is "The Capture of Balta". I enjoy that one, though "The Paw of the Tiger is one of my all time favorites.

I guess I will have to get to work on them. I will try to get a start in a week or so, now that law school is over. I will need help with playtesting, so keep an eye here for more information.

Thanks Michael.. I'll take a look at them.

The Medal of Honor scenario - isn't that the one in which GI:AoV introduced 'heroes'?

Possibly - I know there is a TOWLE hero counter in the game and in that scenario. I don't have my copy of the GI rules but think you are right. Unfortunately, I wasnt able to duplicate Towle's performance in real life with my little cyber GI bazooka gunner. You might have better luck.

Heh. IIRC, I was never able to duplicate his performance in the SL game either. For some reason, my opponent always whacked him hard and fast before going after anything else. Wonder why? smile.gif

Thanks for pointing out the ones you ahve. I looked at the Road to Wiltz board and it is essentially what I want to do - create as close a replica to the original boards and units as possible.

Now if I can just pass immigration law.

With Klotz' ASL website long gone who has the crop of ASL/SL scenarios? Just wondering.

I would be very interested in playing those scenarios on CM. If you need any playtesters let me know. I do play ASL, or rather did. I now play SL with my brother...getting him into the hobby. Still love ASL though I do understand what you are saying. Later.
