Hello History folks. Life continues to be fun. Last week on my Alaskan cruise, I got out for some cards for a couple hour break in the ship's casino. It was a formal dress night, and an older player had a nice "pin" on his sport's jacket. Somebody asked what it was for or meant. He shared that it was given years ago to all WW-2 fighter aces.

Wow, that turned the whole tables attention to this dude as a flurry of questions were asked. Since there was a poker game going on, not too much was shared. He basically shot down Buntas in Mustangs.

I plan on buying the book.

On another note, my new family's side, the Grandfather fought at D-Day, awarded the purple heart & won couple other medals. He was involved the destruction of multiple Nazi positions immediately after D-Day, where he waxed a German Captain. He brought the uniform back & it is on exhibit in a museum smile.gif

Legend salutes the WW-2 Yankees

You lucky dog, getting to play cards on a Cruiseship, living the high life. I'm fixing machines for pennies in the Carolina Sun, it has been smoldering here like the Pits of Hell!

Anyway, good to hear of the ole dogs from the Flying Ace Era of WW2, dying age of Dogfighting. Still alive and kicking! smile.gif

In my family tree, I have a ton of English Tea. 1 at Dunkirk, some of the older ones died in the Great War smile.gif great Uncles...and me own blood line GrandFather fought the Japs in Singapore Malaya area or up further North Thailand border... I only know because I'm pretty smart but they never talk... Imagine those poor Ole Limey Bastards, instead of a 12 month tour in the Army they waited probably the full 6 years in the war until they died or the war was over!

Reminds me June is upon us and the celebration of D-Day

Families seem to be military or not mostly. Mine is military. All 9 of my uncles fought in WWII and as far as I know all where in Europe. 7 died there 2 came home. My father is a veteran of Korea with a Battlefield commission to captain. He retired as a Sergeant Major. My brother have both servered in the two Iraq wars. One is retired from Navy. I servered for 15 years. Five years in Vietnam I hold the Silver Star, Bronze Star w/V, 3 purple hearts and a bunch of misc medals. The things we do when we are young you must pay for when you are old.

Ouch, 3 purple hearts, that means you got hurt in combat. But then again, did not everyone who served in combat in Nam get hurt, or pretty much.

I'm too busy & important to worry about spelling or sentence structure. Just add the word "while"...or just don't worry about it.

If those looking for perfection in the English language, please see King James Bible.

Ouch Targul 7 outta 9, those are dreadful statistics. Especially for an American Army. Must've been in Italy!!! Those bloody SS fighting in the Mountains, Don't know why they tried to fight over a boot that is full of mountains there were plenty of other fronts! Churchill's fault! He's always killing off men in the Med for useless reasons, Empire, blah blah blah...

Rambo,
P51D Mustang was death from above, it was a weak fighter till the Limeys put a Rolls Royce in it, then it was the greatest fighter off WW2 ETO

I doubt those Gerries in Focke Wulfs had much of a chance, and were probably pretty green by '44 and '45... Meanwhile the USA had Chuck Yeager instructing every American who went up and the Germans couldn't afford that, their Aces were still in the air dying or fighting, being used improperly.

War is Hell... I do not think it's worth it anymore. Life is too hard without it tongue.gif

P.S. How much Cash did you take from the tables of those Alaskan Tourists Rambo?

@Liam --- I picked up 8 hungies in 4/8 limit. Broke even on craps & blackjack. Lost a little on roulette, very lame game. Donated a few lose coins on slots w/ my Lady.

To keep my reporting fair & honest. I lost 3 hungies in Memphis on 1/2 no limit.

Rambo, poker is dangerous! I'm a good player but I make irrational decisions. In live action games I am way too rational. A little booze helps tight players, "alittle!!!!" depending on your tolerance. Limit goes sooooooooooooo slow you must've hit your hands early 4/8 is sloshy. After playing for 3 years I think I'm retiring from online play, played 60 bucks in the past 7 months... It's way too addictive

I wish we could sit down I still enjoy some friendly cash games with buds... I know you'd be a tough player if your SC games matches your table antics, probably loose-tight unpredictable and aggressive big payday in No Limit Poker with sizeable stakes!
