Hi to all,

My name is Juan Carlos and iīm form Spain.

I purchased CMAK from battlefront last week and i cannot play it because some problem:
When i play CMAK for some time (thereīs no fixed time) the computer simply shut down. I have the CMBO and CMBB, and never have any similar problem with these programs or others.
I have downloaded the last version of directX and the last drivers for my hardware (i have an ATI radeon graphic card) and the trouble continues.

I dont have any ideas left and i dont know what i can do.

Thanks in advance.

Juan Carlos.

Are you sure you don't have problems with CMBB with your current setup ? It may take several games of playing CMBB (or however frequent your CMAK problem is) to duplicate the same problem that CMAK is having.

Have you upgraded anything lately, including hardware or software (drivers, etc.) ?

This may be an overheating issue (possibly the videocard or CPU). Do you know if there is a certain point in CMAK when this shutdown occurs such as turn calculation or scrolling around the battlefield, etc. ?

Thanks for your aid Schrullenhaft.

Well, i dont have any problems like this with the CMBB or CMBO, they always have worked perfectly and never crash.
Sometimes i play CMAK and anything happen, but in most cases the computer simply shut down. The problem does not happen always in the same point: i haved it purchasing troops or playing.

Last summer installed windows 2000 with all the new drivers and windows updates. Since this time i havenīt installed any new hardware or software except some games.

I have checked the temperature of CPU and it keeps fine while iīm playing CMAK, about 60 degrees (celsius).

So right now you could play a game of CMBB with no problems then ? Have you played CMBB since you've received CMAK ? Have you tried out the CMAK Demo and did it play OK on your computer ? Are you playing CMAK at the same resolution as you do with CMBB ?

I'm not sure why you would be seeing a difference between CMBB and CMAK since they are mostly the same engine. Graphically CMAK might have some larger bitmaps. Do you know if this will happen in a battle of any size or possibly just larger ones ?

What are you checking the CPU temperature with, an utility within Windows ? When you're playing CMAK the computer actually powers completely off ? Does it do this consistently, in every game at some point ?

What software do you have running in the background ? Can you turn off some of these applications (such as the hardware monitoring one, if that is constantly loaded) ?

Looks strange, isnīt it?

I can play CMBB without any problem (with the CMAK installed at this time) and i played the CMAK demo without problems also. The programs resolutions are the same.
The problem happens in any time during the game: one time the computer turned off while i was purchasing troops.

The checking temperature program is the "Asus PC probe". Curiously, yesterday i havent any problem with CMAK, i was capable of playing a scenario until its conclusion.
Last Summer i have problems with the computers temperature, sometimes (when the temperature was very high) it turned off several time and the mannners were very similar like now. But now, i have the confidence that is not a cooling problem, or maybe yes?

Are there any 'cutoff' temperatures set in either your ASUS Probe software or the CMOS/BIOS setup ? The 'maximum' temperature for the CPU may be reached and cause the computer to shutdown or reboot. Though it seems dangerous, I suggest either increasing these settings (if they're present) or turning off the feature (if possible).

It's strange that only CMAK would do this since I would have expected similar behavior from CMBB.

Hi,

Today i have discovered the CMBB have the same behaviour. Lastly, i was only playing PBEM games with CMBB and this afternoon i played TCP/IP game, and the computer shut down exactly the same manner like CMAK.

I was monitoring the CPU and MB temperature during all the game and never reached a bigger temperature than 71 degrees (i put the limit at 85 degrees).

Is the CMAK problem only TCP/IP or does it occur in other player options (solo, PBEM, etc.) ? I'm aware of a bug with the CDV version of CMAK and TCP/IP games, though I don't think it specifically results in a shutdown/reboot.

Does the CMBB problem only occur in TCP/IP too ?

In CMAK the problem occur in al the options: TCP/IP, solo and PBEM.
In CMBB the problem only happen in TCP/IP, at least until now, i only notice the problem today.

Thanks.

I recently tried the CMAK-demo and had the same problem. The pc turned itself off and rebooted. Then i went and bought CMBB and didn't have a problem until today. This was the first time after 5 days intense playing. Since then it allready happened 2 times. Did anyone find out what the problem is?

(I have AMD 2200+ with geforce ti4200 and 256 ram)
