Here is my system:

Asus A7V mobo with 1.05a bios
AMD Duron 900
256mb PC133 ram
Hercules Geforce 2 GTS 32mb with Nvidia 6.49 drivers.
Sblive soundcard

I have been experiencing crashes and unstability for some time now, and I cannot seem to find the cure for my problems. Is there anyone else out there with a similar setup(mobo, cpu, vid card) that can give me any suggestions? What bios version do you use? What vid card driver do you use? What settings do you have in bios?

I think the problem is related to my Geforce 2 card, cause the game ran fine with my old TNT2Ultra.

Please help

Heinz

I am putting together a lists of people that are expereinceing inexplicable lockups and one thing seems to be a common issue. AMD chips/motherboards. I am wondering if the problem might not be in the voltage provided to the AGP slot. I have several tech articles here which mention problems with non-consistant voltage or not enough juice being sent to the AGP slot in motherboards that support AMD chips (most notably the Athlons but some of the older ones as well). This can cause frequent lockups and game freezes.

There are some possible solutions but since they could potentialy damage your motherboard or video card I can't reccomend them, but I would do a search on www.deja.com (http://www.deja.com) (usenet search/archive tool) for this issue and you will find that the problem is not isolated to Combat Mission but to many graphics intensive games, and CM is definately that.

I am still not 100% certain this is what you are seeing and I have a lot of checking left to do, but its the best lead I have seen so far.

A much more tame solution would be to upgrade to DirectX 8. A surprising number of people have reported lockups going away with DX8. The video drivers you are using are also a little iffy. I currently only use 6.47 in my Geforce as I had problems with the later versions. Officaly, 6.31 is the current one though.
