The Stage is set!
Theatre of War Release Date announced

1C and Battlefront.com are thrilled to announce the official release date for Theatre of War, the much anticipated World War Two real-time strategy game by the creators of IL-2 Sturmovik and the makers of Combat Mission!

Theatre of War will be released worldwide on April 19, 2007 . The game is not sold in stores due to Battlefront’s “independent publisher” policy, and is available directly from www.battlefront.com (http://www.battlefront.com) with several purchase options:

- digital download for $45
- mail delivery for $45 plus S&H
- both immediate download AND mail delivery for $55 plus S&H

All mail orders are shipped out of Battlefront’s two warehouses located in the US and in Ireland, Europe.

Pre-orders will be opening later this week with an extra $10 savings, and a free downloadable Gold demo is planned for early April.

Localized versions of Theatre of War are already in the making for Spain, Italy and France, and WILL be released in stores in those countries by Battlefront’s partner distributors later this year.

STATEMENTS

Martin van Balkom, Battlefront.com president:
Many people have been waiting for this day for a long time. Formerly known under the working title WW2RTS this game has seen a long and let’s say “eventful” development cycle during which it has been voted several times as one of the top 10 most anticipated titles. With the joint venture between 1C and our team at Battlefront the expectations have even grown, and after a few busy months of concentrated efforts since last year the game that so many fans have been dreaming about is almost ready for prime time. We’re excited and thrilled about the end product which is building a bridge between fun and fast real-time action while at the same time presenting the player with a credible simulation of World War Two combat from all the European fronts. The stage has been set for the Theatre of War!

Nikolay Baryshnikov, International Sales Director, 1C Company:
We are happy that the development stage of Theatre of War has finally reached its finish line. We were working on it for a long period of time and tried to take into account as many opinions and requests of the community as possible. We wanted to make a game we would be proud of. By all means the final verdict will be delivered by customers but I think that together with Battlefront we made Theatre of War a game capable of setting new standards for the genre.

I was not planning on getting this game, but the 10 dollar off a pre order is tempting
$35 is not too heavy of a price even if I end up hating the game

Rudel, the price will be $45. Pre-orders are going to be Mail&Download (there will be no other option) which normally costs $55. So the $10 off means that you will be able to get that (both the download and the DVD box plus printed manual later in the mail) for $45 instead of $55. My mistake for causing this misunderstanding I guess.

Martin

PS. You're still going to save $10 of course... just on the "other" end smile.gif

Oops

Probably my thought
English reading comprehension still gives me problems sometimes

Well if its going to be $45 I will probably have to play the demo first

Its not that I think it will be a bad games, its just that im completly WW2ed out
I have fought the conflict more times than I care to remember
Its starting to take something special to catch my interest

Then again...Company of Heroes was one of the best games I played last year and it was a WW2 theme
It was not really a war game, but for sheer fun factor it couldnt be beat
I had a good month playing through that game smile.gif
Hopefully an expansion pack comes out for it, skirmish mode is not all that fun

I thought perhaps they had embraced the concept suggested by Month Python and were wandering the planet attacking corporate giants.

Since something like 99.97% of Irish are living outside of Ireland, I felt it necessary to confirm the location. ;) Otherwise people might have thought that I am referring to New York ;)
