In CMx1 there was a lack of accurate 3d models
for some vehicles. They were in the game as
far as having the correct performance, but not from the standpoint of their visual
appearance. *Substitute 3d models* were used to
fill theses gaps. It was a tradeoff decision
due to lack of CD space.

Will CMx2 employ the same substition procedure?

The main reason for the lack of accurate models in the other games was a lack of time. CD space did play into it a little, but even if we had the space we probably would have done the same thing. Which is one of the principle reasons for us limiting the scope of everything we do from now on. Since we aren't going to put ourselves into the position of biting off more than we can chew ever again, and we have a much easier system for getting models into the game, we don't expect we will ever have to swap in substitute models.
