I've harped on about this before and here I go again:

As we draw closer to release, interest in this game will (hopefully) take off like a rocket. Lots of new gamers will be drawn in, many of which are new to CM style gaming, and the forum.

We're gonna need a "newbie forum" to cater for these people:

* A place where they can ask silly newbie questions without getting run over by the Peng Challenge.

* A place where there are no dumb questions, and even the most inane questions are answered.

* A place where a few, simple instructions explain what to do and not to do on these forums.

* A place where they can learn the difference between an M1 Abrams and a Stryker, without having half the field manuals of the US Army repeated to them.

* A place where instructions in playing CM games is explained simply and to the point, sticking with the basics.

New people have a right to come here and post what they wish as do you. Making a new forum wont stop the problem that a sticky could suffice anyway. If you dont like the questions dont read them. Pretty simple

Yeh, I imagine us old CMx1 hands will have the smirks wiped off our faces within ten minutes of powering-up the game. Oh no - tossed back down to Newbie status!

One advantage for total newbies is they won't have to unlearn any bad habits.

You guys are completely missing the point. It is not supposed to prevent them from posting on the "main" forum, of course they're free to do that if they want to.

It's not to protect you from the newbies, it's to protect them from you guys!

The purpose is to provide a "safe haven" where they can get their bearings in relation to the game and the forum without being run over by the Peng Challgenge (why is it I know some twat can't keep his hands off the keyboard now? ).

This may be hard to fathom for you guys, but there are players out there who'd be embarrassed to ask simple questions when everone's discussing the finer details of the hatch locking mechanism on the PzKpfw III ausf. L (which they have no idea what is). It doesn't matter that you're willing to help them without snickering. They'll never get as far as posting the question.

The overall objective is to bring new people into the CM community. It is NOT to intitute some sort of SAS-style selection process where someone has to prove "worthy" to be part of the community.
