Hello there, not sure if this has been asked or answered yet.
Can you tell us approximately how many polygons there will be per soldier / tank etc? Since there is no pictures available yet, this would atleast give us a hint what to expect smile.gif

Ok guess there is plenty of polygons then :D

Lamer, I cant give you any solid figures until we get a little further down the track but I can give you some estimates.
From my perspective Im hoping we may be able to spend around say, 2000-3000 on a soldier, 300-500 on his weapon and maybe 5000-8000 on a vehicle. Im the 3D Modeller though and we always like to get as many pollies as we can, hehe...its not impossible that Chalres could turn around and say okay, time to cut them back. Testing thus far look promising but time will tell.
Just to put those figures in perspect CMBO had about 150-350 pollies per vehicle and CMAK ended up with about 600-700 on new vehicles for that game. Each soldier in CMAK, as a guess, was probably about 120 each (these models were basically hardcoded so I cant say for sure).

Hehe, thanks Salkin! Yes, things have been very busy indeed and have been for quite some time for me...for my point of view Ive had a considerable amount of new software and techniques to learn from the old CMx1 days.
All told though I think you guys should be very happy with what we can do visually in the new engine...I know I am smile.gif

Any chance of proper transparency for trees?

Trees should be 3D now, with twigs, branches, roots and leaves all being modelled using various methods...again time will tell just what we can do here after more solid testing smile.gif .

Looks like a 128Mb Video Card is going to be the minimum for CMx2.

I'm definitely going to have to start positioning my arguments with my accountant (wife) regarding the new PC that I'm going to need.

CM has taken over as my newest $2045 game. It used to be "Wing Commander" that would make me buy a new PC everytime a new game came out.
Good thing PC prices have gone down so much.

those are rather modest specs on the Dell; good to see for the people with older rigs.

What Steve failed to mention was that the Dell computer purchase was for his son to run Medal of Honour on. His computer is a liquid cooled 5 GHz Pentium with 2 Gig of super DDR RAM, 200 Gbyte HDD with the very latest NVidia video card packing 512Mb of video RAM!
;)

I have a son? Keeripes! Do I have to pay child support to the "lucky" unwed mother? And is she hot? I'm sure I thought so, since I must have been drinking heavily since I don't remember spawning :D
