For starters, Soviet VDV, I got them ragtaged property. Too bad I can't model hats though. Anyway I gave them a mix of the tan uniforms, vests, and KMLK. Also a few helmet types. I made multiple copies of certain uniforms to influence the mix, so plain tan uniforms and plain helmets are more common than a helmet with camo netting or a full set of KMLK.

The VDV would be the core forces of any minicampaign, with the syrian reserves acting as regular Russian units.

I installed it from GamersGate and all went fine v1.08 with the license

then i installed 1.10 patch AND 1.20 patch but when i try to start it the game ask me to license and i give my serial number but the engine says my serial is not correct, i tried offline licesing and had the same problem....

..is the 1.20 a correct patch even for gamersgate? Or not? Do i have to stay in v 1.08 or at least i have to install the Plain Jane version 1.10 for paradox/gamersgate?

Thanks (for what i see by now even on my low end system the game goes well)

Perhaps you may be unable to mention too many details about this, but will the new Global Conflict game include campaigns/scenarios from all 3 Blitzkreig games/expansions, or will it contain primarily just the basic campaigns from the original Blitzkrieg? I realize some changes are already being made to incorporate more "what-ifs" into the new game.

I confess that I use it a LOT when I'm playing missions and so I pay attention to wind direction and strength when I'm reading the briefings. Quite often, my battlefields have great plumes of smoke drifting across it as I'm making my assault. I don't use vehicle generated smoke to create smoke screens but I do use artillery deployed and infantry smoke very liberally. And there's uually plenty of this to go around in any given mission.

The reason I ask this is because I use it extensively when I'm playtesting my own missions. To be honest, I imagine some of my missions would be extremely difficult to win if you didn't use it copiously because moving units in the open in LOS of enemy units in CMSF is death for two (obvious) reasons,

first, their ability to spot enemy units is degraded, the faster the move, the greater the degradation.

and second, because it is much easier for stationary units to spot moving units.

I use SMOKE to move a unit into a position so that when the screen lifts, they are already in position and stationary. Given that your average US unit has better equipment than all but the best Syrian units, this gives them a better chance to 'spot' first, especially when they have already been 'informed' that there is an enemy unit in front of them by C2 links (which I also frequently take advantage of when playing as BLUE).

So do most of you guys USE it as well or is this a tool that is largely ignored from mission to mission?

In playing one of the British scenarios I noticed that my Scimitar was using 30mm HE ammo, as opposed to APDS, against an enemy BMP-1. I figured that this may be normal since the BMP armor is so light that perhaps HE does more damage than APDS, but sometimes the HE doesn't have a great effect so I set up some test scenarios.

I used both a Warrior and Scimitar and set them up in ambush positions against a passing BTR, BMP-1, and T-72. Both Warrior and Scimitar used APDS against the BTR and T-72, with good effect agains the BTR, but both used HE against the BMP. I think this may be a small oversight in the TAC AI usage of Rarden rather than an intentional feature because the BMP has heavier armor than the BTR.

I am using version 1.21.

Segmentation Error Honch Expanded Fall Weiss PDE mod

Not sure if this is the proper place for a tech error report on a mod, but will start here and hope for guidance. I have been playing the second Honch mod (creation date in Aug 09) PBEM for a while now, and have experienced two segmentation error crashes. The first occurred when France surrendered (Vichy armistice selected). Replaying the turn got past that crash. A second crash - Yugoslavia surrendered this time - has been more troublesome. The segmentation error has occurred again after reloading and trying again.

This is using version 1.03 of PDE as the base engine.

The mod is quite different from the base game, and quite well done in many ways, so having this error is a tad frustrating. Any suggestions that may salvage the game are welcome.

Hi Guys,

Have been doing well with the Brit campaign so far - at least for a newbie. But looking at Scenario 7 - the Police Station scenario - I just can't think of a viable plan. Looks like a suicide mission to me. And so, without asking for spoilers, I just wondered if anyone had any hints or ideas? I mean, the map is full of buildings, any of which could be hiding enemies. There's no decent LOS and if you task your Friendly Militiamen to move, chances are they'll get slotted - something you're tasked to avoid. As for the QRF - they've seemingly got to negotiate a series of defiles in order to get to the Police Station. Short of flattening the place with off-map fire missions, I'm just not sure how to proceed. The only other idea that occurs to me, is to ignore the bit about getting the QRF to the Police Station quickly in favour of establishing a solid base of fire at the corner of the map where the QRF enters. Then, work up to the Police Station house by house. But is that feasible? Would there be enough time? In previous scenarios I've been able to form a plan, but now I feel really stuck. I mean, you're supposed to achieve the scenario objectives without incurring casualties!
