The highly anticipated first patch for Furysoftware's Strategic Command WW2 Global Theater, v1.02 is here! More than a hundred improvements, fixes and tweaks to both the game engine as well as the editor - many based on feedback from the fan community forums and email - make this one of the biggest patches for one of the biggest grand strategy games out there. The biggest changes are of course improved AI and turn speed, but there are also new Submarine and Destroyer rules for better handling of surprise enemy contact, diving and naval combat as well as new Fighter interception modeling with double intercepts of enemy Bombers and Tactical Bombers. Wargamer.com' Doug McLean has posted a two-part in-depth review of Strategic Command WWII Global Conflict today!
Quote from his summary:
This really is a piece of software that gives players the opportunity to take command of either the Axis or the Allies and try to ‘rule the world’ in the setting of the Second World War. I would recommend this game to anyone with an interest in strategic turn-based gaming or the Second World War. The game is comparatively simple to figure out, but very challenging indeed to master – a truly excellent piece of work. Jörg Langer from german online mag gamersglobal.de has posted a thorough 4-page review of Strategic Command WWII Global Conflict and given it an excellent 7.5 (out of 10) score (rating it higher than most comparable strategy games). The test is in German and copyright 2010, gamersglobal.de; here is a (loosely) translated summary: Strategic Command WW2 Global Conflict is no perfect game even besides the bad presentation. But it is still so catchy and simulates, despite the abstractions, the war period at a strategic level in such a convincing way that some sessions lead to acute sleep deprivation, deficits in human communication and sustenance deficiencies. "One more turn" -- only the Civilization series comes this close to serious addiction. Also, don't miss the unique HUGE 16000x4000 world map (39 MB)!!! The link is in the introduction on page 1 of the review (click the link below). [ Click here to jump to Gamersglobal and read the entire German review ] |

The highly anticipated first patch for Furysoftware's Strategic Command WW2 Global Theater, v1.01 is here! More than a hundred improvements, fixes and tweaks to both the game engine as well as the editor - many based on feedback from the fan community forums and email - make this one of the biggest patches for one of the biggest grand strategy games out there. Perhaps among the most noticeable improvements to players will be the optimized map scrolling speeds for both the game and editor making very large maps much more playable.
