“PT Boats : Knights of the Sea” really is “two-games-in-one”. On the one hand it is a full blown naval simulation, allowing you to relive the dangers and adrenaline rush of fighting on board of a PT Boat of the “mosquito fleet”. You can man almost every position in the first person, and manage almost every aspect of your boat. On the other hand, “PT Boats” comes with a full featured strategic layer, allowing players to manage not only their boat, but basically an entire fleet from an overhead tactical view (or the 3D action view). Today’s new video showcases combat in the tactical/strategic mode.
Air to surface combat plays an important role in any even halfway serious naval combat simulation, just as attacks from above are one of the biggest threats for any marine vessel in real life, even today. No surprise that PT Boats features a rich and detailed simulation of air-to-surface combat in the game. This week’s video release highlights the aerial action that takes place above the sea – watch as planes break apart on a critical hit, pilots bail out, or a Stuka dive bomber executes a perfect bombing run.
PT Boats features way more than just the tiny boats of the "mosquito fleet". In fact, in both tactical and strategic modes, you can direct full fledged naval battles of destroyers and other military vessels, on the sea's surface, below it, and above it. Today's screenshot set is the first of several theme sets to be released in the next weeks. This week's theme is Anti-aircraft combat. No naval simulation would be complete without detailed treatment of aviation. From scout planes to sub-hunters, PT Boats: Knights of the Sea simulates all the important aircraft of the era.
