As you already know, while developing strategy games we pay much attention to historical details. That is why in Theatre of War 2: North Africa 1943 you will be able to command not just generic tank battalions and companies, but units and troops which existed in reality. Every single unit in North Africa 1943 will haveits proper unit designation, tactical symbols and insignia.
One of the first Tiger tanks in Tunisia, 1943
For example, playing through the German campaign, the player will command the 10th armored division and 501st independent heavy tank battalion. This was the only heavy battalion that participated in the North African campaign. It consisted of army headquarters, staff and two units equipped with PzKpfw VI "Tiger" Ausf.E and PzKpfw III Ausf.N tanks.
Tiger tank 501 emblem
During the game's time period tanks from the 501st heavy battalion had three-digit hull numbers, for the first platoon they usually started from 7, for the second platoon - from 8. Unit emblems looked like a prowling tiger and were placed on the left front plate. And you will be able to see it precisely like this in the game!
The 501st battalion was also equipped with a "zero" series (aka "pre-production tanks") "Tigers" which were quite different from later versions. These tanks are shown below.

In total we made more than ten new tactical symbols for German tanks. English and American vehicles are also shown with proper insignia that were used in the first and sixth tank divisions.
We worked hard to ensure the historical authenticity, but we also never forget about aesthetics. The appearance of every vehicle was improved and many new textures were added.
Below you can find a few screenshots showing one of the most famous German tanks - PzKpfw VI "Tiger" Ausf.E. The left picture is from the original Theatre of War game, while the right one is from Theatre of War 2: North Africa 1943. What a difference!
