"Asepuka m/36 vuosina 1936-1945"

INTRODUCTION

To the reader:

There are a lot of books about Finnish military History. This is not strange because of the many wars fought in the history of Finland. However Finnish military uniforms have received very little interest from writers. Uniforms are an important part of history and as such demand more attention. Although Finnish uniforms are very interesting, they are also very hard to research. There are almost none published materials except some WWII dated regulations. The best and most accurate information remains unpublished in the Finnish Military Archive in Helsinki. A large part of the information has not yet been found and some of it my have disappeared forever.

The aim of this book is to try to present the history of the uniform model 1936. It was actually a long living uniform and it was in use until the 1970's. I will concentrate on its first decade, from the development of the uniform to the end of the WWII in 1945.

As author I like to express my gratitude to all individuals and institutions, which have helped me during the research. I hope this book will fill a gap in both Finnish and general WWII military history.
