a personal war movie with scenarios that draw you right into battle." -

Gaming World magazine Awards CMBB
the "2002 Wargame of the Year" Title
(April 2003 issue)
"But
the best new game of all is a familiar face. Battlefront's Combat Mission:
Beyond Overlord won this award in 2000, and while the sequel - Combat
Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin - doesn't change the genre the way
its predecessor did, it still towers high above the competition."..."Whether
it's the tide-turning ambush, the seemingly invulnerable lone tank,
or the Sqaud That Wouldn't Quit, CMBB makes the game come alive
in a way possible only on the computer. That's quite an achievement,
and well worth the award of Wargame of the Year."

Review Gives CMBB a 9.1 Superb rating
and Editors' Choice Award!
"Barbarossa to Berlin raises the
wargaming bar even higher with its pitch-perfect, ultra-polished improvements
to an already great game... Now that World War II is such a popular
setting in first-person shooters, Combat Mission is a perfect venue
for action-oriented gamers to have a more in-depth but no less exciting
look at the subject matter." - Tom Chick

GameSpy
Delivers CMBB a 94% "OUTSTANDING" rating!
"Great graphics; easy and exciting
enough to appeal to average gamers, but enough fidelity and complexity
to please the most hardcore wargamers... It's truly great stuff, whether
you're a hardcore grognard or simply a gamer looking for excitement
that doesn't involve orcs or elves or zombies... Don't let the fact
that this is a wargame fool you, this is one of the best games available
on a PC (or Mac)." - Jeff Lackey
IGN.com
Gives CMBB a 9.0 Rating and
the Editors' Choice Award!
"Not only is it one of the greatest wargames we've ever played,
it also takes everything that normally makes wargames so inaccessible
and throws it right out the window. A slick interface keeps you focused
on tactics while the level of detail and modeling forces you to adopt
realistic strategies. Add to that the comprehensive range of units and
scenarios and you have a game that you won't put down for years to come." -
Steve Butts

"First,
it is plain that the game retained all of its predecessor's
qualities.
Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin is easy to play, has attractive
3D graphics, the underlying calculations are immensely
intricate, the AI is competent, and the parameters are highly
adjustable.
It is very nice that the program exhibits stability and
runs acceptably
on less than the most powerful computers.
Second,
this is a tremendous improvement over Combat Mission: Beyond
Overlord and much
more than just a
conversion to another front. Playing the old game, I (and many
other players) often asked why this or that thing wasn't made
better. Big Time Software listened, and the new game is
better." -

its greater subtlety and depth and the right setting of Russia make
it so much more than CMBO set somewhere else." - Tim Catherall

"The best tactical wargame available. Buy it! CMBB is one of those
rare products that actually lived up to all the hype it generated in
the wargaming community. While the game is pricey for Canadian gamers,
due to the exchange rate and shipping charges, I can say without reservation
that it is worth every penny ! I haven't played a wargame this good
since the original. Now that should tell you something ! " - Andy

"Simply said, Battlefront did it: CMBO was good, CMBB is a classic.
Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin is the very best WW2 tactical simulation,
sans pareil. I could ramble on forever about the game, but then I'd
be doing you a disservice. Every minute I keep you reading here is one
you could have spent much more wisely (and fun!) playing CMBB. What
are you waiting for?" - Steve Lieb

"Combat Mission 2 is the most
engaging strategy game I have ever played and is a title that can be
returned to again and again with ease. The sheer levels of depth and
realism create a truly gratifying experience that both military enthusiasts
and newcomers can appreciate. I have never played another strategy game
where I was so concerned about the outcome of each battle, but the amazing
cinematic feel of Combat Mission 2 ensures that you cant help
but feel a part of the action. With the added bonus of a supportive
fan community who are only too keen to help with any problem or discuss
tactics, Combat Mission 2 is a welcome addition to the strategy genre
and should be providing a lot of people with an awful lot of enjoyment.
This is not a game to be missed." - Michael Ramsey

Recommends CMBB
"Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord was considered by many, including
myself, to be the finest company and battalion level wargame ever created.
My recommendation for the first game was to go out and get it, immediately.
My recommendation for Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin is the same.
Go out and get this game, it is that good. If your wife didnt
get you this game for Christmas she doesnt love you. If your kids
didnt get this for you for Christmas they are ungrateful little
imps undeserving of Santas presents."

CMBB with a 94 out of 100 Rating (November 2002 Issue)
"Combat Mission 2: Barbarossa to Berlin is the best wargame to
date, no more, no less. The uncertainty, randomness and confusion of
battle is modeled better than in any other game out there and just about
everything has been carried out as good as possible given the limitations
of today's technology. Anti-wargamers are not likely to see the light
by the arrival of CM2:BB, but on armchair warriors' hard drives the
game will remain for years to come." - Henrik Kärkkäinen

"Something about this game made me mad at first, I'm not sure what.
But then I realized that this game was indeed the Combat Mission I wanted,
and it had been refined to a level of great gameplay. CMBB is now the
pinnacle of how a 3D WW2 game should be made. Expect alot of copycats
to be churned out soon. The game has stepped up its level of realism
and that is a good thing." - Jman128
