The Combat Mission 'Community'

Since Combat Mission first went on sale in June of 2000 and even prior to that in the days of the "Beta Demo" it has constantly grown in popularity and appeal. Much of that growth can be attributed to a community of dedicated people who's compassion and willingness to contribute has no comparison in computer gaming today.

From the members of the (in)famous CessPool to the 'refreshing monkeys' of the Forum to the tireless webmasters that run the multitude of Combat Mission related websites you won't find a more diverse or intriguing group of people.

We at Battlefront.com would like to take a moment and thank all of you who have contributed to the overwhelming success of Combat Mission and even Battlefront.com itself. We obviously could not have achieved this without their help.

One area of support stands above all the others in its appeal and effort. We speak of the 'Mod' Community.

As you may know, many of Combat Missions graphics and sound effects can be modified (hence the term 'Mod') and these mods are freely distributed over the Internet on many fan sites.

These mods cover every aspect of the game, from new uniforms to all new paint schemes for every vehicle in the game and even the very game interface itself.

Every graphic in Combat Mission that could be moded HAS been and at last count there are literally thousands of mods available online, all free of charge to augment the game. More recently, dedicated utilities (also all free) have been released to help people manage and play with the host of mods available.

The work that the mod artists put into these offerings is unparalleled and in no small way has contributed to the incredible longevity of Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord.

The Mod Community is an industry unto itself with dozens of talented artists, utility programmers, mod testers, webmasters and fans.

In the left-hand column you will see some Combat Mission Community Links of interest. The first is a comprehensive listing of all the fansites that currently exist to support the game. The second is a link to a small photo gallery which shows off just how far graphics mods have come since the game was released.

Again, we thank all of you and welcome you to the Combat Mission Community!
