Reviews, Previews and Combat Mission: Shock Force sightings in the media...
"Combat Mission Shock Force is a whole mountain of action and strategy. From the chaos of surprise attacks to the deadly and unpredictable nature of road-side bombs, this game is both fun and eerie all at once."
"After spending quite some time with Combat Mission Shock Force, I have to say it is one of the most fun battle simulations I have ever played. It has the eerie realism of an embedded journalist's footage coupled with the fun of a puzzle game. As previously stated, strategy is everything in this game. The game has a moderate learning curve but, once gotten the hang of, it is very rewarding."

"The control that one has is outstanding. You can control virtually everything, from being able to create your own unique missions and goal for both sides (if and when you have exhausted the single-player scenario) with each mission driven by a great story...
Another big feature of Combat Mission: Shock Force is the scenario editor, a useful and clever tool allowing the player to create their own 3D maps from scratch in order to extend the games's life infinitely. This is far more than your usual killing-for-points, chasing-for-flags wargame. The detail in this game is far more extensive. Combat Mission: Shock Force is a highly realistic tactical
action game that will become the new gold standard in which
future wargames and military simulations will aspire to."

"Without a doubt, Combat Mission: Shock Force has a lot to offer. Although this is quite a lengthy review, I feel as though I've only scratched the surface. I've not talked about things like screen resolutions (they automatically adjust to your desktop resolution, by the way), how the camera keys can take some getting used to, let alone whether turn-based or real-time plays best. To be sure, CM:SF is a very detailed and deep title, but at the end of the day the best judge of how good it really is will ultimately be you, the player. If you care to take my word, I don't think I've enjoyed a wargame as much this one since I played the original Combat Mission game all those years ago. If you have an interest in simulating realistic modern warfare, and specifically seeing how the new Stryker concept would fare in battle, you can't go wrong with Combat Mission: Shock Force." "Pretty much everything I said in the preview still holds true. Combat Mission: Shock Force has outstanding unit detail on both infantry and armored units. Watching these units operate in the game mirrors their real-life counterparts and it’s really fantastic to see. When battles become intense, Combat Mission: Shock Force is a joy to watch." "The developers took a bit of a risk moving the Combat Mission series away from World War II and also in more or less building the game up again from new foundations. However, Combat Mission: Shock Force is pretty much going to be exactly what fans of the series have wanted. There are some differences here but it still manages to feel like a Combat Mission game and an improved one at that. I was disappointed to see that a tutorial hadn't been included but I daresay this is something that won't worry fans of the series, although it does make it slightly daunting for those who have yet to experience a Combat Mission game. The bottom line is however, that Combat Mission: Shock Force is a great sequel and one that fans of the series will surely appreciate." Link to the full Deaf Gamer review...

"First seen in Battlefront.com's Theatre of War, this floating icon makes unit identification and selection a straightforward affair. Having selected the unit and left-clicked on the destination or target, a structured command system allows players to issue a range of orders from a panel in the bottom left of the screen. Again, this differs slightly from previous games, where a menu of commands would appear above the unit. Commands are available for movement, combat, special orders (which are nestled in between move commands), and admin commands that are specific to the selected unit. Some of Combat Mission: Shock Force's unique commands include Mark Mines for engineers so that other units can move through a mine field; Target Light, which is the same as Target but at a reduced fire output; and Acquire, which allows infantry to pick up additional equipment, usually from an appropriately equipped APC." "This extreme attention to detail, combined with a 3D battlefield and the innovative "WeGo" system of turn-based gameplay, has made Combat Mission the dynasty to beat in the wargaming genre." Read the full Preview Here...

"Combat Mission: Shock Force sure has the look of a great game. The Syrian setting allows for both rural and urban combat, wide open tank skirmishes and intense close quarters battles. The graphics engine has been upgrades and unit design is amazing. The user interface is much improved, which allows for additions to the game, such as the unit commands and communications, to not be a burden. The mission editor is absolutely fantastic and the range of possibilities for mission design is beyond anything I’ve seen in any other strategy game."

"All of these elements work together to create a very believable and interesting environment. Still, the action is what matters here and Shock Force delivers it with the authenticity and accuracy that the Combat Mission series is known for. We've had a blast playing through the small bit of content in our current build and are looking forward to the improvements that the designers are sure to make in the coming months."
