Theatre of War All Inclusive Uber Patch Released!

The LOOONG wait is over. The day you have all awaited is finally here. It is with a tremendous amount of pride and excitement that I am pleased to announce that the Theatre of War v1.10.0.81 All Inclusive Uber Patch is now available.

This patch is big in everyway. Its 1.20 gigabytes in size and contains a massive amount of new, improved and optimized content including 11 new multiplayer mission, 11 new multiplayer maps, new multiplayer game modes and an all new multiplayer game browser. But the changes aren't all just with the multiplayer side, also included are two new playable campaigns for a total of 18 new missions, a completely updated Line of Sight Spotting System, extensive tweaks to the AI and an exciting and fun new single player mission where you get to control just a single squad of elite commandos as they go behind enemy lines to stir up some trouble. That's still not everything, for those that love to get in under the hood, we are including a full Map Editor, updated Mission-Campaign Editor (now allows customization to multiplayer games among other changes) and the most anticipated of all the additions is an all new Battle Generator program that allows to you create your own single and multiplayer battles with just a few clicks of the mouse. Even better is that all of these utilities can work in individually or in tandem with one another so you can pick your own level of editing involvement.

Want a quick and dirty battle, use the Battle Generator, feel like modifying the underlying AI behavior and add in some advanced game elements, then bring up the Mission-Campaign Editor and if you want to play this new masterpiece on some new terrain, then fire up the Map Editor!

If that wasn't enough, the new patch boasts improved overall game performance, rock hard stability and quicker load times across the board! This patch allows you to play Theatre of War like never before!

This patch (v1.10.0.81) is only for the english language Battlefront.com version of the game and since its "all inclusive" can be applied to any version number you may already have installed including the earlier "Battle for Moscow Add-on and Patch". There are other versions of Theatre of War currently out (those published directly from 1C, Kalypso Media, or Anuman Interactive) but this patch is not for them although it's likely that patches for those versions will be released shortly as well.

An updated Demo with all of the new v1.10.0.81 game features is currently being prepared and should be released very soon as well!

STATEMENTS

Martin van Balkom, Battlefront.com president:
Many people have been waiting for this day for a long time. Formerly known under the working title WW2RTS this game has seen a long and let’s say “eventful” development cycle during which it has been voted several times as one of the top 10 most anticipated titles. With the joint venture between 1C and our team at Battlefront the expectations have even grown, and after a few busy months of concentrated efforts since last year the game that so many fans have been dreaming about is almost ready for prime time. We’re excited and thrilled about the end product which is building a bridge between fun and fast real-time action while at the same time presenting the player with a credible simulation of World War Two combat from all the European fronts. The stage has been set for the Theatre of War!

Nikolay Baryshnikov, International Sales Director, 1C Company:
We are happy that the development stage of Theatre of War has finally reached its finish line. We were working on it for a long period of time and tried to take into account as many opinions and requests of the community as possible. We wanted to make a game we would be proud of. By all means the final verdict will be delivered by customers but I think that together with Battlefront we made Theatre of War a game capable of setting new standards for the genre.

WorthPlaying Game Preview added

Game previews are coming in fast and furious and the newest one is from the gaming site WorthPlaying.com. People have often asked about the types of battles included in the campaign and one of the things this new preview pointed out was the following, "The scenarios offered in both Battle and Campaign modes are well balanced and are not overly focused on tanks. There are exceptions to this, with at least one scenario made exclusively for tank enthusiasts. But in general, the mix between armor and infantry seems about right, and mission success will often depend on the proper tactical use of these forces."

New Game Previews and Walkthrough posted

As we get closer to the release date for Theatre of War many websites, magazines and online portals will be posting game previews, reviews and special features. Today, we have the first batch to share with you.

The website and magazine, Armchair General, have recently posted a new game preview following some time they put in with a recent beta.

Reviewer Brian King had this to say, "The graphics in ToW are, in general, very good; the vehicle modeling though, is stellar.  This will make a lot of gamers very happy. The thrill of watching a wedge of Tigers seek out and destroy their quarry is shown in every grimy detail, with exhaust smoke billowing, trees getting pushed down, and gobs of mud being thrown from tracks.  Of lesser importance to a tanker like me are the infantry, which I’m happy to report are also very well done graphically.  Finally, the terrain and buildings are highly detailed and in some cases photorealistic (the rustling dandelion fields are particularly attractive)."

Read the full Armchair General Preview right here

Steve Butts of the giant IGN web portal also got some hands on time and mentioned this fact, ""...Battlefront and 1C have decided to stick with historically appropriate engagement ranges, meaning that your forces will start firing on each other far sooner than you'd find in a more conventional World War 2 RTS like Blitzkrieg or Desert Rats. Here the tanks and artillery pieces can literally send shells across the entire battlefield."

View the IGN Hands On Preview here

In addition to Previews, we are happy to announce a multi-part Game Walkthrough has begun. This Walkthrough goes through the Theatre of War tutorial and training scenarios and is currently hosted on Tweaktown.

This first article covers some basic game mechanics such as how to select and move units, while the following three articles will dig deeper into tactical problems and how to solve them using realistic WW2 tactics (and how to execute them in the game).
