The older pattern was made in a very heavy material in a British DPM variant. Apparently there were several different colorations. One of them looks more like the later pattern DPM, another looks quite unique with the colors being very pastel in appearance. The pants have been easy to aquire, but the jacket and hats are damned near impossible to find.

The newer pattern is also DPM, using the golden coloration found in current British DPM style. However, it is a bit more yellowish in the base. The material is an ultra light weight cotton, which is in stark contrast to the earlier model. I have shirt, pants, and boonie in this pattern.

Notes
A very small run of British style desert DPM was made for the New Zealand force serving in Afghanistan. So rare is this pattern that NZ troops being deployed to Afghanistan are not issued this uniform. Instead, they have to hunt for surplus ones such as the one I obtained because the price was too high for a soldier's pay.
